We’ve all had bad days - days where we feel inexplicably sad, alone, or simply unmotivated.
On these days, we’ve had numerous people ask us, “What’s wrong?”, and our mind goes blank, unable to come up with a specific reason for our emotions. Especially during this uncertain time, both of us have experienced our fair share of these days and realize the importance in truly understanding our emotions before brushing them aside. In this week’s post, we wanted to share our perspective in debunking some common myths related to emotional coping mechanisms.
These strategies are all easier said than done, as both of us are still figuring out what emotional coping mechanisms work best for each of us. However, we have learned that avoiding self reflection is simply a shortcut that prolongs the pain instead of allowing for a healthy emotional resolution. Honor your emotions by being present for them, not by avoiding your feelings with every fiber of your being. Being honest with yourself is the first step to healing.
